How to remove a blood stain.?

Does anyone know an effective way of removing an old dried in and blood stain without using bleach? When it's a fresher stain I know a cube of ice rubbed in takes it out beautifully but what if it's a dried in stain? Thanks
The fabric content is 60% cotton, 40% polyester and it's a tan colour so I can't use bleach.

Hydrogen Peroxide 3% solution will do it.
The fresher the stain, the shorter the soak.
For a set in stain, soak the spot for a few hours . . .
If this doesn't work, reapply the Peroxide, as often
as necessary. Then rinse with cool water (you don't
have to rinse the entire garment, just the area of
the initial soak) . . . in fact you don't even have to
rinse it, just soak the area in cool water.

You can even up the percentage and
    strength of the hydrogen peroxide
(go to a beauty supply store, and they
have different strengths, but the lowest they
have, should do it, without 'bleaching' too fast
or strong) if, by chance, the 3% doesn't work,
but you have to keep an eye on it — much
shorter soaks — minutes, instead of hours.

This should do it. It most always has for me,
    even with 100% cotton.

try soaking in water with detergent for about 30 minutes then rub in vinegar add vinegar to your wash cycle and see if that does it

You can actually soak the bloodstain in milk. It will work for dried in blood also. Just make sure you don't do a lot of rubbing with the fabric. You can weaken the fibers and also cause the stain to set deeper.

    Hope that helps!

Try soaking the garment in a nappy powder stain remover, they are gentler on the fabrics and have great success.

Use ONLY COLD WATER – on blood stains, with the powder dissolved in the bucket first, then soak the garment overnight. This has always removed stubborn blood stains for me. You can leave it in a bit longer if you like, or also try a stain remover soap on the dried blood as well before you start soaking….

    good luck!

Peroxide usually works and doesn't stain clothing.

I have used salt and cold water very successfully especially if it is on white canvas runners or foot wear. Just free pour table salt and use a small brush to get some agitation going.
