how to remove an old blood stain?

the stain is about 1 year old, and we’ve tried everything from Oxy to Clorox to get it out of our comforter… i rinsed it with cold water when it was fresh, and that removed a bit of it, but no matter what we do it stays.
any advice? or should i just forget about my favorite comforter?

Have you tried Spray & Wash with Resolve. Your suppose to let it sit on the stain for 2 minutes then scrub it out.

If you use bleach I hope you pour it directly on the stain that only way of removing it out.

    * Set blood stains (Yellow rust like stains contain iron) -

For set blood stains, a Phosphoric or Oxalic acid containing rust removers (Try RoVer, Whink – Home Depot) can be used to dissolve stains. Rinse then blot with paper towel.

The above method works in home & commercial laundries.

    Good luck!

wtf? soak it in milk? does that actually work? I have a white down comforter with old blood stains and i actually got one of those clorox pens and soaked the spot overnite 2x and it worked. but you said you already tried clorox. Maybe you could try the pen.

I have am old blood stain I am trying to get out too. So far I have tried cold water, and then rubbing it with savon de Marseille (special French soap that acts as a more natural (magical imo) Shout-it-out product) and coarse salt to rub the soap in more. Then I washed it (in cold water of course). The stain has lightened, but not gone away yet.

So, I went to the store, and bought some oxygenated water (I am not sure if hydrogen peroxide is the same thing, but that is supposed to work too) specifically made to remove stains. It is soaking as we speak. I hope it works. (If it doesn’t I think next I am going to go for some diluted bleach on it)

I also tried white vinegar, but that didn’t seem to do much for me. I have also heard that water mixed with a little baking soda helps, as well as white toothpaste….check the links below, they have a lot of interesting ideas.
