How to remove black wood stain?

I’m looking for night stands and found the perfect stand- but it is the wrong color. It is solid wood stained black- how difficiult is it to remove black wood stain? I want to stain it a dark espresso to match my other furniture.

    Veneer is very thin, and too much sanding will damage it.

    Solid wood you can, but loads of elbow grease. Either find the color you want, or paint the one you found. Sand, prime and paint.

    Well, you can try a regular chemical stripper, but if the bare wood was stained in the factory, then it likely soaked right into the grain of the wood, and its not all going to come off. You could try it though, and then put the espresso stain over the top. It might be a little darker than your other pieces.
