How to remove glue stain on patent leather?

Anyone know how to remove glue stain on patent leather without hurting the color?
Thanks.
(P.S. patent leather is on a pair of shoes)

    If the glue is water soluble then sprinkle some mild soap and water on it let it sand for a couple of minutes and rub it off with a clean sponge or cloth.
    Mild soap will not hurt th leather.
