How to remove hard-to-clean mold/mould stain from tiles?

I’ve been using Bleach and Bam (not together – I rinse thoroughly before I use another product) and I’ve been scrubbing with a toothbrush and it’s not going away.
The state of this shower was unbelievably unhygienic!! I moved in and I don’t think it’s ever been cleaned by my roommates. SO I decided I’m not going to live like them and clean it but there’s a couple stains that won’t go away. I’m guessing these mold/mould stains are so ingrained into the grout. So help please???
I certainly plan to keep it clean, NEVER have I let my shower get disgusting like this one, I don’t know what’s wrong with them. It’s like washing dishes in a dirty sink – what’s the point??

I’ve used a full bottle of toilet bowl cleaner and then spray just a little water to make it easy to spread around the shower tiles. Allow it to sit a few minutes. Take a soft bristle brush such as a long handled car cleaning brush, or even the broom. Scrub it all down and rinse it all off. Since this shower has probably never been cleaned you may have to try a few different methods. I also use ammonia and baking soda into a gallon of water. Of coarse never mix bleach and ammonia together because of noxious and dangerous fumes. But say a day after then try the ammonia and baking soda. I always use 2 to 3 cups of ammonia and about 2 cups of baking soda for tough areas to one gallon of water. use the long handled car brush and work it over good. You can also use some scouring powder and my favorite is Bar Keepers Friend scouring powder. Then rinse with 2 to 3 cups white vinegar mixed with a gallon of water. This will kill bacteria and germs. Wipe the shower dry after you are finished. Some shower cleaning is a real job especially if it hasn’t been cleaned very much before. You may have to clean the shower once a month or every two weeks to keep it up and clean. After a while you will see the shower looking so much better. Sometimes I’ve had to use a pumas bar on the floor and rinse very well after. What ever works to remove those stains. Good for you to decide to keep the shower clean. I know you will feel so much better after getting that shower cleaned. A lot of determination. Keep it up.

You can spray it down with ammonia to kill the mold and leave it for abpout 30 minutes. Rinse very well with cold water and apply bleach again. Let that sit for 30 minutes and rinse well. Spray the whole shower down with white vinegar to kill any other mold and rinse after 30 minutes. If this doesn’t work then the grout or caulking needs to be replaced.

If you get it clean just keep it clean by scrubbing the tiles down once a week with an inexpensive daily clarifying shampoo like sauve or white rain. Let it stay on the tiles while you have conditioner in your hair and then rinse with hot water.

Mold can grow in some types of grout and even if it’s dead it still leaves the stain behind. Try baking soda on your trusty toothbrush- if that doesn’t take it off, it’s there to stay. Just be happy to know it’s not going to effect you since it certainly isn’t coming off under any circumstances.

If you want a project, you can scrape the old grout away and regrout with an anti-bacterial product. I would ask someone in the DIY or home repairs forums for specific instructions. Or get the super to do this ;)
