someone suggested coca-cola which is not too much of a joke as I know you can clean coins with it.

    The problem with oil based paint is the pigments which they contain, and in some cases no amount of cleaning will remove the stain, especially from cotton. The only suggestion I can make is to try celluloise thinners on the stain, but take care as this stuff is highly flammable.
