How to remove salt from boots?

So it’s winter, and the salt is totally destroying my boots. Anyone know any homemade or bought solutions that help remove salt stains without ruining the boots’ fabric?

    dab mixture of one part vinegar to one part water,after dry be sure to buy some leather or suede protector/water repellent to keep it from getting into material in future. Some places that dry clean my be able to the job as well
