Go to your local paint store and ask them to create a custom red tinted stain for you. They should be able to do this for you.
If not, try furniture repair shops. Good luck!

Stain comes in all colors if you want a cherry red stain like is common in cherry furniture just buy that or if you just want a red color buy a red stain stain comes in blues, greens, yellows your no longer stuck with the old wood stains.

what you are looking for is a tinted lacquer, unfortunately, it should be professionally applied. You might try minwax poly shades.

if you have the equipment to install lacquer, I can explain the process

2nd edit- if you stain; regular stain is a 1 step process, dont attempt to thin down your first coat ( the first coat of stain will seal the wood, you can not properly acheive darkening through multiple coats of stain). You should apply at least two coats of urethane over the finished stain coat. Use a sample peice of wood to test your color.

There is a way Im certain of it you just have to find the best stain that looks like oak then spread it on lightly Good Luck

i would use minwax red oak or red mahogany stain…it really wont matter because cherry is a self darkening wood and will get darker as it gets older…

If you really want red w/ a capital R.
Would go w/ water or alcohol soluble powder stain.
some pro paint shops may have them , but you can get stains in primary colors online.
More like a dye , you can mix the strength you want & build up depth of color.
Experiment on scrap for color & even finish off a piece before doing the whole dresser.
The color will "pop" when you apply a clear finish .
    Best regards
