it was from chili with meat, so i am assuming that it is grease. its on a blood red cotton/poly shirt and my mom told me to put detergent on it and roll it up to soak, and the stain spread to 3 other spots. i washed it in a regular cycle. but the stains are stillo there. is there anything that can be done?

if you dried it already you are SOL. If not you should use Shout Gel it works great. Grease stains are the hardest and you are lucky if you get them out.

put alittle dawn dish soap on the spots and rewash

Try soaking it in dish deterent. I know this will work if the stain isn’t already set in. Hopefully it will work for you.

    Try a laundry pre-treatment product.

If you have dried this shirt in the dryer, the heat may have permanently set the stain.

If the dawn doesn’t work try rubbing alcohol, or hairspray, and re-wash.

Fells Naptha works well too. Dish soap works well and of all things Caress hand soap works. Pre moisten with water, rub generously with the Caress and wash like normal.

yeah soak in cold water….then use a bar soap to scrub together with the shirt…leave the soap on the shirt let sit for 10 mins then wash out….repeat but rub the soapy spot with another spot on the shirt….should come out looking like new…

Well your mum was right by saying add dish washing detergent, But rolling it up no. Try again soak in cold water add the dish liquid , rub the liquid into the stain using your finger tips, Leave for a few min´s then pop into your machine , turned inside out on a 40ºc normal wash program. Sure it will come out this time round

take your shirt and spray some WD40 on it in on the stains. Rub with a toothbrush to work it out and then launder as usual.
It sounds strange, but I promise it will work.

i’m copying & pasting the answer below that i put on someone else’s Q a bit ago – it would probably work well for this too, given how greasy chili is…

the only thing i will ever use on grease stains is WD-40. (yes, WD-40.) degreasers don’t work well on dried grease – it needs to be made liquid again in order to remove it. WD-40 helps to reconstitute it so that a degreaser can then lift it out. i know it sounds scary and like it could only make the problem worse, but trust me – it works wonders.

spray each and every grease spot with WD-40…put something behind the layer you’re working on before you actually spray it so that it doesn’t soak thru to a spot that doesn’t need it. then put a degreaser like dawn dishsoap on each grease spot – you don’t need to scrub it, just rub it in well so it soaks into all the oil spots. then throw it in the wash right away (with no other clothes) on cold with regular detergent. don’t dry it as you may need to do it again. i seldom have to repeat this, and have never had to do it more than twice, even on old stains that were thrown in the dryer. a last run thru the wash with regular laundry soap should remove any lingering scents of the WD-40 that remain.

this also removes crayons that have melted onto clothes in the dryer, for any of you who may have curious young ones in the house.

YOU MIGHT THINK THAT THIS IS CRAZY BUT TRY RUBBING ALCOHOL A FINE BRUSH. IF IT WORKS ON THE GREASE FROM A STEEL COMPANY THE IT WILL WORK ON A CHILLI GREASE STAIN.
