I am 13 and i have a large pink port wine stain birthmark over my left cheek, neck and ear. I am very conscious of it. I never tie my hair back. I try to cover it up with makeup but it never works. I just wish i was normal. How can i get rid of it? I’ve heard of lazor treatment, what age limit is it when you can have it for free? what happens afterwards? does it hurt? will people be able to tell I’ve had it lazored if i go to school straight afterwards, because i wouldn’t like to discuss it? Also if you’re a boy can you tell me would it put you off going out with a girl if they had a birthmark on the side of their face? there’s only a bit on my cheek and the rest is on my neck. would this be off putting? have any of you had lazor treatment on a birthmark before?

Port wine stain as you have described is a birth mark involving tiny blood vessels. You should take care not to cause injury to it lest it may bleed profusely. If disfiguring you may go for plastic surgery including laser and sclerosing therapy. It is harmless and painless, but a remnant of the scar may remain which you can mask. Does this portwine stain not add to your look as a rare idenentification mark ?!!! Consult a good plastic surgeon.
