I just made a workbench with a OSB Top and 2×4 Legs/Framing, What is the best way to finish it? Stain? Paint?

shellac, it will seal the table and give you a smooth work top surface.

It depends on what type of work you’ll be doing on it!

I recommend staining it (I know, but the results will surprise you!) and finishing with 4 or 5 thin coats of high-gloss polyurethayne.

Test it on a scrap of OSB to see what you think!

place a piece of thin ply or hard board on top and screw it down with just a few screws on the edges this way it will give a smooth finish and can be replaced cheaply when damaged as for the legs stain or paint can be used .Stain wont chip off as pain can but can be hard to mach in if it becomes damaged several work benches i have made i have used a stain finish with a good coat of varnish It lasts a long time and looks good

Paint it….It’s a work bench! Put a thin layer of tempered masonite on the top and seal it with polyurethane. It’s much harder than the OSB. After many years you can replace it easily.
