I need a leather softener that won’t discolor my white stitching on my new black bridle. It a handmade black bridle and it’s really stiff. I want to softening the leather up. Most products turn the stitching funny colors. I am looking for one that is clear or won’t stain.

Try Leather Therapy or Leather CPR

I have heard of some people using mineral oil.

Soak it in water and ride it dry. Be warned that the dye may run even in plain water.

Try Lexol. The product itself is very light in color and should not stain the stitching and it softens leather very well.

Don’t use Lexol, it’s really cheap and cheap stuff usually end up staining the whites, and it’s not a good leather oil. Leather Therapy is a good one, especially for really dried up or tired leather. Ledersoft is also a good one and it works pretty well.
