My toddler got a hold of a jar of sweet and sour sauce and now I have a section of carpet that is HOT PINK. My carpet is beige and I live in military housing. What can I use to get this stain out without ruining the carpet?????
I’ve tried both my carpet cleaner and my spot bot. I’ve tried oxyclean, dawn dishsoap, spot shot, resolve heavy duty carpet spray, and woolite oxydeep cleaner spray

You can try alcohol, if that don’t work find a small area in a corner or behind furniture with diluted peroxide, about 60% peroxide and 40% water.

Ok honestly, none of these answers are correct. The only way you’re going to get a pink stain out of your carpet is professionally. Usually for a minimum charge. (between 50-65$) I do this for a living, and NONE of your local supermarket cleaners will work. They will only set the stain or bleach out your carpet. Chem-Dry, who I greatly recommend, uses a product called "Red Alert." It’s Ph levels are perfect for removing red stains. The process works by putting red alert on the stain, and then applying a catalyst which heats up the chemical through steam and completely removes the stain. Then by putting "neutralizer" on the area it completely gets rid of the chemical. The stain will NOT come back. The reason why spot shot, woolite, resolve etc. won’t work is the alkaline levels are too high. Thus, resulting in a permanent stain, or a bleach spot on your carpet.

Try a little hydrogen peroxide. Pour some onto a rag and blot at the stain rather than pouring the peroxide directly on the carpeting. No need to soak the padding underneath. If the peroxide isn’t working, try club soda. Use the same method: pour it on a rag and dab. Good luck!

Also, if it is a grease based stain ( I don’t know if sweet and sour sauce has grease in it, but I assume there is some sort of oil. ) try Goop waterless hand cleaner. It is sold in hardware stores, auto stores and I think Wal Mart has it in the auto section. It’s the hand cleaner that mechanics use. Take it straight from the tub and work it into the stain. Let it set for at least thirty minutes and then use a damp rag to remove it.

I find the red to disappear gradually as I re-scrub carpet from time to time. I use only dish detergent, basically it works for pretty much everything – why not? And, I use HOT water, not cold. Just be patient – two or more times should work if you plan to be there long enough.
The spot shot works wonders for set-in clothing stains, even burpy baby clothes and even though made for carpeting. I just have a hard time finding it.

I always believed that the spot will be permanent if bar of Lava soap (water & brush) can’t do it. Red is tough & it is in all the fibers of each strand – - it will take a lot of work.

Try 50 percent Vinegar, and 50 percent warm water.Rub in with damp cloth, and rub off with cloth.

Try either shampoo or windex. Scrub it with a brush and then blot it dry with a clean cloth.
