I painted wood fense and deck raililngs with exterior Behr ultra flat paint. Is this so bad over stain?

Is the wood doomed? I hope I don’t have to replace fence/railings altogether because I used paint instead of stain?
Thanx.

Did you prime with an oil-to-latex primer first? If so, then you’re probably OK.

If not, then the worst that would happen is that your paint won’t stick and you’ll be redoing your paint job within a few months to a year.

You wouldn’t have to replace the wood, though – at worst, you’d just have to sand/scrape down to bare wood, then prime and paint again.

    Hope this helps.

Paint is fine, but the issue that you might find is that the paint will peel off after a period of time.

hope you used mineral spirits on it before you painted it. Or the paint will peel off.
