I want to stain some sheets red like blood for Halloween. ?

I need to stain some sheets with the color red to a point where it looks like blood splatters. I do not want the stains to wash out in my laundry, and I do not want any color fade. I’ve tried a couple of things, but they just end up washing out anyway. Any ideas? Something that is inexpensive would be nice, and possibly a detergent that isn’t all that strong so I can get the sheets clean but without any stain loss.

Providing your sheets are cotton, you can buy a dye at your supermarket. The one we use is called Dylon.Failing this get some red food dye, also from supermarket. If by any chance your sheets are Polyester, then you cannot dye them successfully.

Red wine should work if you let it sit for a while and allow it to stain…..

go to your local home store get a small can of paint and a paint brush. hang sheet, dip brush in red paint a fling it towards the sheet let dry over night and the stains should stay. red wine doesn’t look like blood.

Your detergent is just too good!

Use cheap sheets…I mean cheap. Like dollar store 120 thread count sheets.

Use fake blood from the costume aisle…it is meant to look like the real thing. I have also heard you can make a very realistic blood out of red jello in a thick concentrated syrupy solution. If so that would be great because jello has protein and protein stains are really hard to remove.

Set the stain the way you would fix the color in a new garment or a tie dye…soak it in a strong saltwater or vinegar water solution before you launder it. Even so, you won’t want to wash it very often.
