I'm going nuts over laundry stains, how do I get grey stains out?

It seems I get a lot of grey spots on my laundry when I wash and dry. I use to use a stick but it bleached the spots WHITE. I tried pouring the detergent on spots and rubbing together. Sort of worked on some things. I’ve been told it comes from the washing machine. I could really use some ideas.

It is most likely from fabric softener. Go without it for a few months and you should notice the spots disappearing and new ones not showing up. IF you have to use it, use half the amount and dilute it with water.

put MrClean in your wash, do not use liquid fabric softner.

It sounds like you either have something in your washer that is staining the clothes, or you have some garment/other you are washing with your clothes that is transferring dye.

I suggest reviewing what you wash carefully to eliminate garment/other staining. Look for patches (like sew on patches) or anything else you may wash to see if there is greying on the fabric they are attached to. Also, sometimes cheaper garments are not color fast and their dyes will run for a while.

Also, look around inside your washer to see if there is a spot of something stuck to the inside. It seems to me that if you are seeing spots, it’s something coming into contact with parts of the fabrics so it should be visible inside the washer basidn itself. If it were not on the inside of the basin, it would not be coming into direct contact with the clothing and it would be putting a grey wash over everything, not just in spots. And check the inside of your dryer as well.

A bleach pen is bleach, so of course it turned the spots white. What on earth were you thinking with that one!

Grey stains sounds like it is on "colored fabric"? Communal washing machine(apartment)? Yeah, chances are the person before you used bleach on their whites and bleach residual is still in the machine. If the next load is yours and it is colored clothes, you can bet some of the previous soap and bleach remained behind. Once the color is out it is out. The only way to fix it IMO is paint of the same color you want.
