Our church entrance is a concrete surface about 1000 sq/ft. We noticed it is blackened in some and chalk white in other areas, its dirty and stained. We are thinking to improve the look. Is it better to power clean it, stain it or paint it? We are doing it ourselves.

I hate painting concrete. It just does not last. You got to clean it no matter what. I would mop on some TSP. Can be got at the paint store. Follow directions. first and foremost. Power cleaning just drives the greases in deeper into the concrete. Then muratic acid the floor. Again the paint store knows all this. Ask them for best advice.and materials to use and how to do it..

First clean it, than stain it. I stained my concrete floor and it looks loads better!

Well the best thing is to completely re-furbish the look. You may do this by staining the floor and cleaning it. But, if you are in a hurry it is quicker just to clean it. Hope that helps!

A great product called Step Safer made by Coronado is an acrylic coating that adheres quite well, has a no skid additive in it & is available in 6 shades including a concrete tone. We sell lots of it to towns for around their pool areas.

Pressure wash it. Hose it off then apply bleach gel(cleaning supplies at home depot…..it stays in one place longer)Brush it in using a broom and let sit for about 30 minutes. Pressure wash it off. Let concrete completely dry and use a sealer or stain….let dry and seal.
If staining an acid stain is best for exterior.
