Vinegar and water, it might take 5 different times but it almost always comes out eventually and will not cause the carpet to loose it stain finish so as when you use cleaners it always looks like the stain comes back, but it really is because the carpet is now a dirt magnet.

For smells, ODOR Hunter is a great product.

If you can get your hands on a Little Green Machine, it, in my experience, is what works the best. Having three pets, it has been worth its weight in gold.

If not, they sell commercial carpet cleaners just for pet stains that you can spray on, scrub in, and the vacuum up.

However you decide to clean it, just make sure you get it completely out, and then spray it with some odor remover. (Sprinkling on some Baking Soda can work well as an inexpensive odor remover.) Or else they’ll just think that it’s ok to use that spot again.

For pet stains, you really want to get the odor out, even if you can’t smell it it’s still there. I use an enzyme cleaner from Petco and soak the stain. Then I let it dry overnight, and if there’s still a stain I hit it with Spot Shot which is an aerosol that I get at Walmart. Follow the instructions on the can, and the stain won’t lift right away. But when you look the next day it’ll be gone.

We had light tan carpets at our old house, almost white. It was ridiculous. Now we have tan carpets, but it seems like we spill things like soda a lot more than most families haha.
