Is it safe to tattoo port wine stain?

to be more clear on my question, i am 17 years old. when i turn 18 i want to get a tattoo and plan on having alot of tattoos if possible. but i have lived with port wine stain (pws) my whole life its very extensive from the neck to midchest-hands up my arms and shoulders and then half way down my back and the back side of my right leg. but since i was 4 months old i have been going to boston for laser surgery to fade it away. i stopped going when i was about 15. its not as bad as it could be but its still faded red and notice able. i also bleed easily where the capillaries are closer to the surface of my skin. now where tattoos involve needles i was wondering if it would be safe and or possible to get tattooed? would i bleed to much? does anyone know someone with PWS that has been tattooed? thanks for taking the time to read and answer my question!

All tattoos will bleed but if you bleed profusely then it could cause a problem. Excessive bleeding can ruin the tattoo. That’s why many tattoo artists will not tattoo someone who is currently on drugs or is drunk.

With your skin condition, I would talk to your normal doctor about possible effects of a tattoo.

I recommend getting an outline done in one session and starting off small. Go back after the outline is healed to do the shading and coloring. Once you see how your body will handle this, then you can do longer sessions and bigger pieces. Do not take any Ibuprofen before hand, as this thins your blood.

I would call around to artists in your area they will know. Some artists are afraid to tattoo over scars, pws, people with aids, hiv, etc..

Seriously I would talk to my doctor about that. You don’t want to get yourself hurt. All a tattoo is is a bunch of little holes, so if your bleeding easy it is not a good idea in my opinion.

If he saus it is ok, then I would get a very experianced artist who has done work on port wine stains and look at his/her work first, also ask if you are able to contact any of those clients or if he is freinds with any of them to see how they feel about the tattoo after it is healed. The artist shouldn’t take offence to that, this is a diffrent situation than someone simply getting a tattoo on regular skin, you would have concearns.
