Is there a cleaning product that can remove a Red Wine stain from cotton blankets?

I spilled a glass of Red Wine on a friend's bed. It's been there for a few days. It bleed through the comforter, blanket, sheets, all the way down to the matress. Is there any cleaning agent or chemical that can get rid of the stain? I want to avoid spending too much money. I don't want to have to buy new sheets. Is there a solution?

    Sugar Paste works great: Sugar Paste, made of sugar and water, and allowed to sit for one hour, will usually remove anything!!

    Or you could blot the stains with White Wine, which removes red wine from clothing, and just might work in your case.

    Depending on the color try bleach thinned with water, it's already ruined so…and you'll probably need to soak them in the washer for a really long time and do a lot of spot cleaning. Try peroxide-it works on blood, hopefully a chemistry major will ans. and get your butt out of trouble.

    WineAway will instantly remove it. So will Mostenbockers Red Wine Remover. If you are willing to put in some time, make a paste with Borax and water, agitate into the stain, let it dry and either vacuum or shake off the excess. WineAway can be found at kitchen stores (Cost Plus, Bed Bath and Beyond, Linen's N Things) and Mostenbockers can be found in the laundry aisle at the big discounters. Neither is terribly expensive compared to buying new linens.

    you could try using borax, a powder that you should be able to get at supermarket too..damped sprinkle it on, and wait and then handsoap and scrub…but sol-u-mel would be my first choice!
    borax needs to be handled carefully it is dermally absorbable! wear gloves and don,t inhale the fine powder…it is not a fun item!
    sol-u-mel is safe, non toxic and has a multitude of applications.
