Is there any way sure fire way to remove a stubborn blood stain that has set in?

Yes, I’m talking about women’s undies! I have a friend who tends to let hers dry that way and then are they ruined? Or is there a trick to getting out set-in blood? We’ve tried extra detergent right on the stain, washing in warm instead of hot because I heard hot sets in the blood stain, and a generous amount of liquid Spray and Wash stain remover.
Is there a better stain remover for blood stains or a better method that works?
