I've got this horrible brownish-orange hard water stain in my toilet?

How do I get rid of it?
flower, tried it.
beth and ryan, sounds like something I would try, but I live in a double wide and don’t have a window in the "guest" bathroom. It comes out of my main bathroom with a little bleach and scrubbing. Is it (maybe) because the water sits there longer because we don’t use it as often?

We once moved into a house where the bathrooms had not been used in ages–lots of nasty stains. My plumber uncle told me to use muriatic acid. You can find it in the swimming pool chemicals. Basically it is a diluted form of hydrochloric acid. Use gloves and use caution–be prepared to throw away your toilet brush afterwards and do not breathe the fumes. Pour a bit into the toilet, targeting the stained areas (it will sizzle a bit and release fumes, so open a window). Let it set for a bit–just a minute or two should do it–and then swish with the toilet brush. Repeat if necessary. (If you’re not quite that desperate, I’ve found that The Works toilet cleaner does pretty well also for most stubborn stains.)

Try CLR cleaner – it gets out calcium, lime, and rust stains. You can find it among the household cleaners. Just follow the directions on the label.
