Ketchup or Catsup in Europe, why does it stain red?

well maybe not all of Europe but when I went to The Netherlands and England I got these packets of ketchup, which I had to pay extra for, at the McDonalds and they did NOT taste like catsup and they stained your fingers red, becasue of the red die in them, i’m wondering what they REALLY were and why they do not have Ketchup like we do here in America?
Dune? haha!
(Ketchup/Catsup is my life blood, I will not eat some food with out it, seriously!)

II know ketchup is extra, and it’s completely different from good americam ketchup. my question though is: since mcdonalds sends the meat, buns, cheese, sauce, etc to mcdonald stores all over the world, then why don’t they ante up real ketchup like they got.

Yeah I know tough question, personally I hate it also, this so calling ketchups. I really don’t know an answer but I can’t wait to try those hamburgers in the U.S.A. = )

If it was McDonalds, it was the same stuff they use in NA. Have you not noticed that they also charge for the packets here?

I have never in my life paid for ketchup packets from mcd’s here in the us. That other stuff you’re talking about sounds gross. I like my tomato-y, sugary goodness :)

It’s Watties (Heinz) Tomato sauce here and it is a must to have on chips(fries) and my bacon and egg slabs.

Ok, if you’re lucky enough to get to travel in Europe, why would you want to eat at McDonalds?
They have the same Heinz ketchup in the UK as here, I lived there for years. Never had the urge to eat at McDonald’s though. In Holland they eat their fries with mayo, hardly ever with ketcup so don’t know about that one.

Glad I live in America! It is free with anything you order and as much as you want. Real Ketchup is red because it’s tomatoes. I have never been to Europe and I wouldn’t want to eat their Catsup either or have to pay for it. I would have tried to find out what they passed off as Ketchup because I have heard it spelled both ways. I had a friend that went to London and the McDonald’s was super expensive. I guess I should count my blessings that I live in America eh?
Whenever you go back to a different country………..I would suggest bringing some packets from our fast food places with you or maybe even a small bottle. I don’t now about you….but I want to know what I am eating!
