Does anyone know what will get the stain out of our new rug? I used the hot water with dish washing liquid detergent and it did get most of the stain out there is a little pink still in the rug. Will it get out if I get a rug doctor? Please help, I am desperate my wife is about to kill me.

Take a white t-shirt or cotton t-shirt material rag, get it wet with water mixed in with just a few small drops of dawn. Put this cloth flat over the stain. Take an Iron, put it on the cotton setting, and iron the cloth. The water will steam up and use the power of steam to lift the food coloring out of the carpet. You must repeat about -10 times. Be careful not to let the iron touch the carpet, and if the fabric gets burned or stained use a fresh fabric.

Another variation is to just soak the area with the water/dawn mixture and keep ironing the cloth over it, same effect basically.

It does take a few tries but it is better than replacing or patching a carpet.

This is the only thing that works on red stains in carpet.

A good product I use is called Folex carpet and upholstery cleaner. Works great, my dog had diarrhea on my sand colored carpet, came right up.

Carpet or upholstry stain remover with a rug doctor, but OXY clean should bring it out.

You could try Oxyclean. Also, doityourself.com and other stain removal websites typically indicate using a small amount of vinegar (not the apple cider type, just white vinegar), warm water (not hot water to avoid setting the stain), and mild liquid laundry detergent for various types of stains. Blot, do not rub or scrub to maintain the integrity of the fibers. If the rug doctor steams, rather than scrubs, it should be gentle enough.

As for the Oxyclean, comments from other people on spot removal carpet cleaning sites have used Oxyclean with a steamer successfully, so you have a good chance of it working, too.

    Good luck with this.

Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with warm water in between applications. Best of luck!
