Laundry question – discoloration after washing?

I just did some laundry and put on a shirt I had washed. The lights in my apt aren’t great and I noticed a slight discoloration stain which of course is highly visible in the harsh work lights and sunlight. How did this happen? My washing machine has pretty basic choices – small, med and large; temps – I can only choose warm and cold (no hot because I attach my washing machine to the kitchen sink) and cotton/sturdy, permanent press, wool and delicate. I basically use the cotton setting and warm/warm for almost everything. Thanks so much!!!

    Do you use powder detergent?
If so, that may be the problem, if it doesn’t get dissolved completely before you add your clothes then it can leave discoloration.
I quit using powder because of that.

Check the tag to see where it was made. Many garments coming out of China, Pakistan, Bangledesh, India, etc. have been dyed with vegetable based dyes after manufacture. If you do not set the dye the first time the garment is washed by adding either a cup of salt or a cup of vinegar, the colors may run or bleed, fade or discolor.
