the best is shout, but the cheapest and just as effective is peroxide for whites & light colors, for darks add a cup of baking soda in with your detergent, or make the baking soda into a paste & pretreat

I use a small amount of the liquid laundry detergent I use in the wash on the stain. I let it set for a while – it seems the longer it sets, the better it removes the stain. Wash in warm water and the stain is gone. Or, I get a bar of hard soap (not the stuff you use in the shower) and wet the stain thoroughly with water and rub the soap into it., the rinse it out.

For red wine or blood, I soak the stain with vinegar and then wash almost immediately. Being an acid, vinegar will weaken the fibre. For faded whites, I use peroxide.

I try to use non-chemical products for stain removal, and the least possible amount of detergent of any kind. Helps save the planet, reduces pollution to our water supply and cleans just as effectively..
