It is most probably a cancerous tumor. My dog had one too, and she had surgery, but another tumor came up, and she passed away. Go to the vet as soon as you can. It could run around 1200, but maybe a local vet will work with you on price, please go to the vet, I can tell you that your dog is not comfortable.

tumors and lumps aren't always cancerous, and they don't cost much to have them removed. your dog, your responsibility.

I'll make the decision for you: take your dog to the vet, at least for an exam.

I know you stated you do not have much funding and I do understand that, however, without bringing your boy to the vet for a FNA (fine needle aspirate) to send to pathology it is IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to tell you if the tumor (IF it is even a tumor!) is a mast cell (cancerous).

Even vets can examine/feel a tumor and guess incorrectly. There is no way to tell if the tumor in question is canerous or not without a cytology.

Obviously, given the breed, boxers are prone to cancer… but that does not mean your dog has it!

I know this is not the answer you were looking for, but I am going to be honest with you.

It sounds like a cyst that is draining try putting a little pressure on it and see if anything comes out also try cleaning it with peroxide and warm salt water. If it dosent clear up in a few days i would have him looked at by a vet . It might not cost you as much as you think he might need some antibiotics which aren't expensive. Good luck.

I am a boxer owner. Boxers are very prone to cancer and tumors. A boxer usually lives to be about 9 or 10. So this is very possible that it is a tumor. Unfortuntely a majority of Boxers do pass from this.

You need to take him to a vet immediately and have it removed. It could be non-cancerous.

If you do not take him to the vet it could be life threatening. You need to go make sure.

There should be no other decision to make but to take him. Just do it now for his sake.
