Nail polish stain–need help quick!?

My 11-year-old daughter has just had an object lesson on why she needs to keep the door to her room closed. Toddler brother just went in and managed to open up her black (!) nail polish. Now there’s a pretty good-sized mess on the tan carpet.

I used Spot Shot immediately, but couldn’t get it all up. We’re in a small town, and even if we left this minute and drove to the nearest place to get some other kind of cleaner, it’s going to be dry by the time we get home.

Any "home remedies" we could use while it still has a hope of not being totally set?

Whatever you use (ie: nail polish remover) will most likely take the dye out of the carpet also.

Try some nail polish remover. Just drop some into the stain, then scrubbbb. I’m not 100% sure this will work, but it’s worth a try.
