Pet stain and odor remover?

best stain removercleaning suppliesjanitorial suppliesremoving stains

I cannot stand it anymore! I have cats and dogs. I love them but- the cats are too old and lazy to get to the litter box, and our one puppy is having a little trouble becoming house trained. I can’t find any products that can actually successfully remove pet stains & odor! On white carpet, I can’t get the yellow stains out for the life of me, and on dark carpet, the odor won’t disappear! Does anybody know an actually good pet stain and odor remover? (Preferably one that can get the "set-in-carpet-already" ones out.) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :) Thanks!

For odor removal I like Simple Solution:

Another good option is Nature’s Miracle:

    I’ve cleaned stains with Gonzo:

The first two are enzymatic cleaners and basically "digest" the bacteria in the urine/feces. I use these for spot cleaning, in the steam cleaner and in the laundry. I only have dogs, so please make sure they are safe around cats. They do work on stains. For really bad stains, I like the Gonzo product (again, check to see if it is safe around cats). My dog urinated on a cast iron statue and it left a rust stain on the carpet. The Gonzo was the only thing that could budge the stain.

    Good luck.

It doesnt mean they are old and lazy, sometimes they have actual problems, take them do to vet.

    Woolite Pet Stain Remover.
It foams on spot and you scrub it out after you put it on and it removes odor and stain. Also get Febreeze for "all the time" good smell for your house.

Woolite, Pawls (it worked for me, my dog literally just peed on the carpet and it all came out) Febreze also helps with the smell if it’s really bad.

A couple of different products could really help you. Look for Petastic or Nature’s Miracle. They truly remove the stains and the odor. They are both clear liquids that must be poured onto the area. What I do after I apply the liquid is thorougly dampen a white bath towel (with water) and then lay the towel on top on the stained area. I typically leave it there for several hours, and then use the towel to scrub/soak up the stain.

Another thing that has helped is that I have had my carpets professionally cleaned and then scotch-guarded thereafter by the carpet cleaning company. The spots came off easily with a dampened cloth. You’ve got to get rid of the odor so your dog won’t be attracted to it. Good luck.

Natures Miracle is great for removing enzymes from the carpet from pet urine and vomit. I usually keep a big jug if it around because my pets seem to like to puke up stuff AFTER I’ve left for work and then there’s just a spot nice and soaked in when i get home. The advantage to this product is that the pet won’t return to the same spot to urinate (which is maybe the puppy’s problem, he’s attracted to his own scent). I think it removes stains as well, but white carpet can be a problem. Maybe consult your local dry cleaner to see what they recommend.

You can use Natures Miracle in carpet cleaning machines as well to remove the old musty odors from the whole carpet (maybe will work on the dark carpet).

If the cats are not making it to the litter box it may be a medical condition due to age or infection. A trip to the vet may be in order, unless you like removing pee stains all the time.

But this product may help straighten out the housebreaking problem.

I also found Oxyclean Pet Stain remover works well for small stains.

I agree with the Nature’s Miracle stuff in a steam cleaner (if you have one). I also would recommend Spot Shot. I’ve been using it since I was 14 and had a cat–now I’m 23 and have two dogs and I swear by it! I’ve used it on all carpeting and never had a problem. But if it’s sunk in, you’ll want to steam clean it with something to get rid of the stuff.

The ONLY thing that works is Petastic. If you have used other cleaners on the carpet, you must steam clean with water only to remove the soap and cleaners from the carpet. Then, let the carpet dry. Pour Petastic on the stains. Rub lightly on the stained areas. Make sure to pour enough on so that it gets into the carpet backing. I always say equal parts of pee to Petastic. If the Petastic doesn’t reach where the pee did, it can’t work. It’s an enzyme and actually eats away the pet bacteria.

Nature’s Miracle is no longer what it was years ago. That formula is now in Petastic, folks.

I agree with Dude on the cats. Vet visit, just to be sure.
House training puppies can be a lot of work.
Take that one outside frequently until it goes and praise it.
It will get the hint over time.

For the stains, I actually like a cleaner for bird poop called Poop Off. It isn’t cheap though. It’s an enzyme cleaner, that can be found at petsmart.
Spray it on, let it set for a few minutes, scrub with a brush and blot up with a paper towels.

In the extreme, you may need to pull carpet. Just depends on how bad things have gotten.
