Pet stains of fabric and windex?

I have found that spraying windex on pet stained fabrics (old urine stains) and putting them in the wash, takes the stain off completely leaving it clean as new. I just wonder what it is about ammonia on ammonia that removes the stain completely. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Hi there…I’m only speculating that it may have to do with the type of fabrics and the alcohol content in Windex. I notice that some fabrics the Windex stains the fabric and doesn’t remove the urine, but others Windex lifted it. I have used denatured alcohol to lift stains on most fabrics and it worked somewhat well enough, but not as well as hydrogen peroxide. So it could be a combination of the two.
