Please Help ASAP! How can I safely remove an ink stain on a wood table that’s been there for at least 24 hours?

We have a reddish- brown 0 brand new wooden coffee table, and recently under a decoration on it we found splattered giant ink stains. Apparently, there was a broken ballpoint pen (the dog bit it open) that someone placed under the decor and now the ink stain is dry and a bit embedded in the wood. Help, please? ASAP I’m begging you! My mom’s crying right now!
Thanks all- I used a bit of hand sanitizer which REALLY helped get it off, toothpaste a bit, a tiny bit of water and windex, hairspray <–(but it practically tore off the finish) so I refinished it with wood paint. But all in all, the stains are gone completely! Thanks SOOOOO much!!!

It may have to be refinished – but it’s not hard to do (takes some time, but not difficult) and if it’s a good wood, it’ll be OK.

Before taking such a drastic step – you might try using hand sanitizer (primarily alcohol) on the stain. Don’t let it sit too long but rub it in and then use a paper towel to get it off.

IF that doesn’t work, you could try some toothpaste, use your finger to rub it into the stain and see if that helps to "buff" it out. Toothpaste has a very fine "sanding" action to it so it shouldn’t hurt the varnish/ finish.

    Good Luck.

My daughter got black permanent marker on my coffee table, I can’t remember exactly what it was that got it off, but I think it was actually windex that I sprayed on the wood. I know it removed it all with no trace of it. I was told to try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Pen/Clorox Bleach Pen though.

i think it is quite hard to remove it, anyway, it depends on the finishing of the table it self. if it is really impossible to cover it with something, i think it is better if you brake that part and fix it with wood filler, let it dry, and paint it as the original pattern, and also add another chemical things ( i forget what it is call but there is one).
