Okay..So one room, one ruined carpet. In process of removing carpet and putting down laminates but its a weekend only job and we are not to the stinky room yet. I have a bissell carpet cleaner and I steamed the carpet in that room this morning. But it just seem to raise the odor up out of the carpet and into the air. I have company coming this weekend so I am in a hurry to cover the smell until we can rip up that section of the carpet. I was thinking of using vinager and water in my bissell. Will this work? Any other suggestions? All "Pet odor or Pet Stain" removers isn’t working. Yes its that nasty! I need something that will cover the smell quick.

I tried baking soda on the carpet for hours and then vaccum and that isn’t working either.

Thank you for your answers in advance!
THE ENTIRE BEDROOM IS RUINED..I am not asking about spot treating. I am asking about massive cover up here!

You should be able to use vinegar in your cleaner without any trouble. Hope it covers the smell for you!

I have used a product for pet stains for several years called Nature’s Miracle. It contains an enzyme that breaks down organic proteins and works great on dog urine. It also has a slight citrus smell that will discourage the dog from being a repeat offender in that spot.

The key is using enough to neutralize the stains. Get a big bottle (about $30 for a 1-1/2 gallon bottle) and pour it directly on the stains. And, I mean soak it in around the whole stained area. Let this sit for a few hours, preferrably overnight. If you want, you can put an old towel over the area. This warns you that the area is wet and actually helps wick the liquid out of the carpet.

After the soak, dab it up with some towels (put the towels on the floor and walk over them) to remove excess moisture. Let it completely dry for a couple of days. If the smell isn’t gone, do it again.

Actually, this works great as a pretreatment for steam cleaning, too. Put it on, let it soak, and then steam clean the area. Nature’s Miracle is also a great pretreatment or additive for pet-stained clothing, blankets, etc., before putting them in a washing machine. I even use it to get the stinky smell out of old sneakers.

hey J, you can use vinegar or anything in your bissel, we have 1 too, its a waist of time. the only thing you’ll have success with is, oxy clean, by itself. you may have to do it 7-8 times depending on the size of the stain and what size of doggy/kitty/ferret. we just bought a 205,000.00 house and the lady had 3 chiuaua’s, we tried everything, trust me the oxy is the bomb, i even used stuff from work, oxy rocks
