Red stains on son’s shirt- any good ideas for stain removal?

I’ve washed it 3 times only in cold water. I have tried putting oxy clean on it, charlie’s soap, and shout. It has definitely faded, but still there. It must be tomato or something. It was really red to begin with. What other things can I try? Or should I just give up? It was an expensive shirt so, I am trying everything.

What I have found with Oxyclean is that you have to use the powder and let it soak in the washer for 4 or 5 hours before running it through a cycle. Also, wash it with other items… friction/ agitation is the key for removing tough stains.

I had the same problem with MUSTARD(another tough one to get out).. very frustrating. A friend told me to make a paste with the OXY clean powder and water and put it on the stain and then soak it in water and Oxy Clean over night. I was worried this would damage my daughters dress, but it came out fine. Her dress was made out of 100% cotton. Hope this is helpful

Zout works good….It gets oil and grease out of my hubbys clothes when he does car work. It’s also worked on fruit punch, grass, and pasta sauce as well. Make sure you let it set on it for awhile. Is the shirt white? If that’s the case, just soak it bleach and solve the problem in one shot. Or take it to the dry cleaner. Hope this helps.

There is a bar soap found in most laundry sections called "phelsnaphta soap". It will get any stain you ever have out of any fabric, no matter how old the stain. I have purchased clothing at thrift stores and garage sales with stains of the unknown. I have never had a stain that this soap would not get out. It is a laundry must have!

If the garment is white, you can use a bleaching agent such as hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar to further reduce the stain. Lemon juice is also known to work, too.
