STAIN HELP? How do you get water off canvas?

i had a water bottle in a canvas bag (with fake leather handles, buckles, etc.) it leaked, so there are water stains on the the bottom of the bag. I've tried washing it with soap and water, and it worked, except now there are stains where i rinsed the suds off. does anyone know any ways to get water stains off that wont stain the bag farther?
thanks for the tip, i might try that, but somehow, there are darker lines along the edges of where the water ends. any tips for that?

I would recommend washing it with a mixture of white vinegar and water. Vinegar is safe for use on canvas and it removes stains, including water spots. The vinegar smell dissipates as it dries.

I would try just making the whole thing uniformly wet and lay it flat to dry, turning regularly so it dries evenly. Unless you've upset the dye in the fabric, I wouldn't imagine the water would leave a permanent stain. Be careful with cleaning products though.
