We (my husband and I ) tried to remove it when it first happen but nothing has helped, we are about to give up and buy a new carpet. What do you suggest to remove an old black shoe polish stain from a brown carpet?

Try blotting dry cleaning solvent into the stain..blot it again with clean cloth…do this several times….then sponge with a detergent solution blot again ..Sponge with an ammonia rinse. If this fails and the spot is really old try rubbing alcohol and then last resort hydrogen peroxide…this will leave it bleached…then use a brown marker to touch up the color ..might work!! Don’t toss the carpet unless you want to other reasons….♥
