Weird Laundry Stains?

best stain removercleaning suppliesjanitorial suppliesremoving stains

Sometimes after doing the laundry I have these strange stains on the clothes. Mostly they are a gray-ish color and come out of nowhere. The stains are not there when they go into the washer but after coming out of the dryer they are there. Do you think this is coming from the washer, do washers need to be washed or cleaned out or something? Can this be from the detergent? Its strange and very annoying!

It could be a number of things. It could be that the detergent was not completely dissolved in the water prior to putting in the garments. It could be the liquid fabric softener dispenser is clogged. It could be that a garment in a previous load left a deposit that is still in the drum and when the garments rub up against it the stain transfers. You can clean out the washer by running a load of rags, add detergent and either 2/3 cup of borax or 1/2 cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar in the rinse water. Check if your washer has lint filters to see whether they are full, clean out the liquid bleach and fabric softener dispensers by running hot water through them until it runs clear.

They can be from the detergents, especially ones with bleach–it happens to my boyfriend all the time! For non-whites, use a non-bleach, no dye detergent.

I think the stains come from the dryer. Lower the heat setting.

there is probably a leak in the washer or some rust that combines with something in the washer. i would get it looked at. sometimes what happens is the rubber lining streaks the clothes and causes that.

the first answerer could be correct. another thing thay may be happening is that you may have hard water which may be leaving mineral stains/deposits on your clothes. you could try cleaning out your washer or using a water softener in your laundry. also make sure there isn’t anything in your dryer like an old chap stick that might be leaving residue on your clothes when heated.

I’ve had that happen when I don’t dilute the fabric softener… so make sure the washer is full of water before adding the fabric softener… good luck.

are you separating the loads? Sounds like you may have washed something dark blue with your light colors. Wash everything except whites in cold water. The colors from your other clothes may have bled. You may want to just run a rinse cycle with bleach to get all the germs and chemicals out of the washer before washing another load.

Had that problem with some white sweaters belonging to my daughters. When I washed them with anything else they came out with odd brownish-gray spots/dots. I sent them to the cleaners, and they couldn’t get them out. Then I realized the dots corresponded to the holes in the washer, and were caused by dirty water being forced through the fabric in the spin cycle. From then on, I washed the sweaters in a small load by themselves, running them through a cold rinse before washing. All the stains came out, even what had gone through the dryer, and that the cleaners had failed to remove.

HERE IS A QUESTION FOR YOU . " WHERE DO YOU THINK THE DIRT GOES?"NOT ALL OF IT GOES DOWN THE DRAIN. SOME OF IT GETS STUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE TUB AND THE RIM OF THE WASHER. CLEAN YOUR WASHER WITH TUB AND TILE CLEANER. AND LET IT DRY. YOU WILL SEE AN IMPROVMENT RIGHT AWAY. YOUR WELCOME!
