What can you clean mold and mildew stains on canvas with?

The top on my pontoon boat has a canvas top that has mold and mildew stains on it. I was going to carry it to a laundry mat to see if I could wash it in something but not damage the color ( yellow ) or the stitching in it. Any help would be appreciated .

Yeah, Johnny, I understand the key thing that kills mold is bleach. That is indicated in this handyman article on how to get rid of mold that appears on a brick wall, so I’m thinking it might have some relevance to your situation as far as bleach is concerned:

Hardware and home improvement stores sell a product called Jomax, which is actually for treating exterior surfaces, but works pretty well on canvas too. The instructions call for mixing with bleach, but I used it with soap and water to clean a canvas umbrella for my outdoor table. The staining was pretty bad, so I had to work it on the ground with a deck brush and some more soap to get all the stains out. The umbrella had blue trim fabric that didn’t seem to be affected by it, so I don’t think it will cause any discoloration in your cover, but you should test a small area first. Follow the instructions on the jug (except for adding bleach) and mix in 1/4 cup of dish soap per 2 gallons of water.

    Good Luck!

H&H or Generic Baking Soda and White Vinegar. Mix the two (yes it will fizzer) but you that to start first and gently rub into the fabric. Don’t use color sponges. Use a white terry cloth rag (clean).Once your done then rise off.

Or use Boax power with lime juice mix with warm water into a bowl. Then gently rub into the stain.
