I would try borax. Add a cup of it to the wash. It removes stains, brightens, kills germs and deodorizes.

Look for something that removes pet stains, I am not real sure exactly, but we have used a product like this on sheets when my kid was small. If I remember right it was for carpet and we used it like "Spray and Wash" then washed them in regular detergent. It worked!!!

Bleach would be your best bet. You could also try the stuff you find in pet stores for pets.. Hospital and such use bleach that is why everything is white.

Most hospitals have to be OSHA compliant in the way they clean so the typically follow this process:
Flush (high temp and water level to loosen soil)
Suds (high temp, long cucle, soap and alkali added balnaces pH)
Chlorine (bleach temp of 140-160 deg. F)
Rince in high water level in 2-3 minute cycles
Then sour in low waater levels using a mild acid rince to bring pH to acceptable levels (5.5 -6.0 for garments)

So basically that is why the stains and smells get out.. its a long technical system.
So from what they do, and the tips I have for when I washed my greatgrandmothers clothes:
Wash the soiled clothes seperate, on a hot/hot water setting make sure to set it at a high water setting, what people dont realize is that when they have a small load and set it on "small" then you are having just enough water to cover the clothes, so the stains are just seperated onto all the clothes.
Set the water level on high for soiled clothes so that the stains and smells arent trapped in tight quarters with the clothes. (high for a small load, if you have too many, seperate wash out into smaller loads)
Pretreat all clothes with a spray and wash.
Use bleach (if colors get a color safe bleach)
After its done the normal was cycle (until the washer stops) instead of putting it in the dryer right away put it through one more rinse cycle, use the fabric softner then not during the normal rince. Then either hang out to dry or use the dryer with dryer sheets.

Buy the detergent that is made for babies laundry. It gets stains out.For odor of any kind put some vinegar i the rinse cycle and dry as usual.I think the detergent is called Dreft. Also use the hottest water possible for cleaner laundry…

Use a good Enzyme powder + Low Temp Oxygen Bleach (Sodium percarbonate) @ 40C (104F) wash for 10-15min.

Then Rinse twice + add softener (Febreeze, contains odor neutralizer) in last rinse.

    Good Luck!!
