What is a good home remedy for cleaning out a carpet stain?

This a for a science project: I will stain it with Grape Soda, ink, and nail polish remover.

    Make a solution of one part of white vinegar with one part of water.
    Apply to the stain using a spray bottle to saturate.
    Allow the stain to sit about ten to fifteen minutes.
    Use a sponge to clean in a rubbing motion.
    Rinse with warm water.
    Brush the pile back into the natural direction is has.
    Using layers of white paper towels, place paper towel on top of area, place a book on top of that. Allow to sit like this until it has dried.

    depends, what did u do to get the stain? and how many chicks it took to get the stain to where its at now depends if u have to burn the stain out, bleach it out, or get a new rug

    It depends on the stain, but believe it or not club soda is great.

    Check this out, if you can get to the stain fast enough, just set a white to well folded over a couple of times on top of the stain. The stain will wick into the to well as it dries. The next day, remove the to well and the stain will be gone!!!!! It works on the principle of wicking . The moisture from the staining material evaporates into the air bringing the stain upward. Put a little pressure on the to well too.
