What is the best cat food that won’t stain carpet when cats get hairballs?

Yes, my old man is 11 years old with very long beautiful hair.. I’ve tried everything for hairballs LOL

    We feed all of ours Fancy Feast (fish flavors) canned food, Purina One Sensitive Systems dry food, and for the aging boy in our group Hill’s Prescription Diet w/d dry food formula. We have light tan carpet and no stains.

    Out of curiosity, have you tried a food that helps deter a cat from getting hairballs to begin with?

    For a food, I am not sure of any specific brands that won’t stain. Simply put, puke is puke.

    I would try an "upper end" store for some advice though. A lot of times they can give you samples to try…but you will want to mix in with the old food over time so that you arent causing an upset tummy too.

    Well the stain isn’t from the food its from the digestive enzymes that the cat regurgitates. try getting some good quality hairball formula i use Purina One and i also give them Whiskas Temptation treats that are for hair ball control.

    It usually isn’t the food that they eat that causes the stains, it is simply that the hairball has digestive juices with it when they upchuck it.

    So if my cats eat their tuna too quickly, and they upchuck, it has a red stain. But a simple hairball, and it really has no stain in itself. In fact, if I don’t find it before it dries, typically I only have to use a damp cloth to rough up the carpet and there is no mark.

    Are you using a bush with prongs for your long haired cat? I use a brush that has prongs on one side of getting off the undercoat, and then a brush to get off surface hair. It keeps things fairly well under control.

    Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Laxatone works awesomely for fur balls. My cat has never had a fur ball and that is what I use. I give it to him 3 times a week.
