The stain is from a dog toy, a tennis ball dyed to look like an American flag. The ball was wet and when the pup dropped it on our light tan carpet, the ball left a red stain everywhere it was dropped.

My friend's child spilled red Kool-Aid in the backseat floorboard of their car. She used Simple Green to remove the red dye from the carpet. It took out the stain completely, she said, and she decided not to sell the car after all!

The stain that is in your carpet it is from a painting/coloring chemical, so i would suggest you do not use any king of carpet steam cleaner, or any cleaner machine that spray stem or vapor, because the heat and the chemicals, the only thing you will get it is the stain to get deeper into your carpet.
because the most of the toys are painted at high temperature(oven painting), you needs to use a chemical for cold conditions; there is in the market several chemicals those you could use, depends of the type of carpet, the ounces composition(thickness) and the color, even if is ink colored, natural colored, etc.
i will recommend you to use a chemical that you can get from any warehouse store like home depot as example.
the name of this red1gallon plastic bottle is HIGH TRAFFIC CARPET CLEANER, made by ZEP COMMERCIAL. the product code is HDCC24128.
