    it’s kind of like a different way to match up fingerprints. the guy above just explained what it really does scientifically, but this process is used a lot in different situations like matching up a person with their real biological parents, and also used a lotttt in crime scenes. for example. you know how on csi they always find a piece of evidence from the killer on the victim i.e hair, blood, skin, etc… and then they take a dna sample from the suspects? they break down its components so that the dna is basically in this liquid form, and then you do the gel electrophoresis and match the different outcomes from the suspects, to the dna found on the victim. and there you have your murderer!

    For you to enable to see clearly the bands that you are observing in the electrophoresis method. This will enable as well to differentiate bands with different composition other than what you want to see such as proteins and the like.
