I am doing a science project on three different laundry detergents and if they can get chocolate, fruit punch, grass, and ketchup out of a white tee shirt while washed?

I work in the "Laundry detergent" area of a large retail store. If you have any of the stains you mentioned on a white shirt; you should spray Shout on the stain plus use a laundry detergent to remove the stain. Both Shout and a laundry detergent are enough to remove the stain.

From personal experience; I would use Tide or Gain before Cheer. Tide and Gain are both expensive and they do have many advanced ingrediants that fight stains.

Tide (as a company) is more focused on removing stains. While Gain cares more about scents in their detergents. They both have a high quality in stain removing. Tide and Gain both have different advertisemtns and opinions on their detergents; while Cheer only makes their detergent. I never use Cheer because they don’t attract cosumers as much as Tide and Gain. Tide and Gain detergents stand out more on the shelfs than Cheer.

It also depends on how quick you treat the stain. I usually put a little more detergent in the washer if I have stained clothes.

Use Dreft. It’s laundry detergent for babies, but it is awesome! It gets out tons of different stains. It even got blood out of my girls’ shirts. Price wise, it’s a little more on the pricey side. However, my husband and I were thinking of changing and I would have substituted Dreft with Clorox 2 and Cheer-the cost of those combined is more than just Dreft alone so we’re sticking with Dreft. Good luck with your Science project!!!!!

    Hey!

I just tried All for the first time because I had a coupon and I do not recommend it. I don’t think it makes my clothes smell as nice as other detergents I’ve used in the past, and the supposedly "2x concentrated" liquid runs out quickly. I’m going to switch detergents, but I’m not sure what I’ll switch to.

I use a website called Viewpoints for all of my buying questions. Check out what the community says about Tide and Gain detergents. This might help you decide detergents to use for your project.

    Good luck!

All of the above detergents will work to a degree. The same degree! None of them will remove all of the stains by themselves.

    I like Gain.

Tide is the best. You get what you pay for.

If you;re doing a science project then maybe you should be testing out the detergents yourself rather than asking random strangers (although i guess other people’s opinions and experience could be helpful data). The whole point of a project is to learn something by doing your own tests and analysis. Go to a dollar store or a thrift store or something and get some cheap white shirts or towels and try to find the smallest, cheapest containers of each detergent if money is an issue, and test them out yourself.

Remember though that the results will vary depending on how long you let the stain sit for before washing.
