First I would run an entire cycle through the machine with soap but no clothes to make sure your machine is clean then rewash the clothes and add some vinegar to the rinse water to help get rid of the spots if they are caused by the soap.

What kind of spots? Like grease spots? If so, then you had something in a pocket that was not removed before washing. This happened to me before and it was a chap stick in with the clothes. A little dab of Dawn dish soap got it out.

Sometimes clothes leak a die onto each other. You need ro start turning them inside out to wash and use colder water. The liquid soap shouldnt have to much to do with it, except for the fact that sometimes to much soap in one place could leave a spot, but that shold wash out after just a wash with water.

Every 3 to 6 months you should clean your washer , very easy to do You pour a about 4 to 5 cups of white vinegar to the water and let the washer run thru the cycle . Vinegar will clean the washer to remove the soap scum that is sometimes left after washing the clothes. It really helps.
