    No one really knows, although some people think it’s because there is such a rich vascularity to the head and neck (it’s not really just the face, but they are more noticeable to the world when they’re facial). You can have a port-wine stain anywhere on your body, though.

    PWS are vascular malformations, so that kind of makes sense. But honestly, no one is really sure why there’s a head and neck predilection.
