    dentists say, as the acids in wine will eventually "etch" or erode your tooth enamel, causing permanent damage and opening weak spots where decay can occur.

    The "Purple Tooth Syndrome" after tastings, on the other hand, is temporary, and the experts say your teeth (and tongue and lips) are not actually stained but simply covered with a thin layer of wine-dark saliva. Brushing will remove it.
