the other folks answering have stated that your only choice is to refinsh, but why not try to restain the spot first. Can’t hurt if it doesn’t work. Otherwise I would need more information about the chemicals and the previous finish ps hand sanitizer has alcohol, and alcohol disolves shellac; which is easy to reapply

the only thing i would know to do would be to try sanding it out and re staining the spot.

When you say "sanitizer", do you mean "bleach" or other similar type chemical? If so, the ONLY way to repair that is to sand down the entire top and refinish for an even match.

strip it than reseal it…..no need to sand it if after you strip it the stain is gone ..i suspect the stain is just in the finish…pop by your hardware store tell them what your up too…its fairly simple to do

The company that I buy my furniture from told me white stains can be removed with mayonaise. put some on let it set awhile and then clean it up. Work on our dinning room table. Hope I have helped.
