I have two ideas. 1) To remove candle wax from linolium I found some good stuff called Goo Gone. It’s super consentrated, works on everything, and is pretty easy to find, I think every grocery store carries it.
    2) To remopve wax from some things I found laying a few pape towels over in and then ironing on top of that works too. The heat melts the wax, and the paper towels soak it up.

    Good Luck!

Hot water will melt it off. I would probably use a rag or terry towel dunked in hot water and try to heat it up and pry it off. A blow dryer might work, too. Since it melted on, you might be left with some of the red dye they use in the wax, however. Weimann makes a wax remover that you can find in craft stores and discounters in the candle aisle that will remove the residue.

If worse comes to worse, paint your walls.

(your friend should have offered to clean and paint for you)

Before I would repaint as someone stated ( I’m not even sure that the wax wouldn’t bleed through the paint), I would rent or borrow a pressure washer. That will remove it.
